The general secretaries of the three political parties have planted trees at Wied Ghollieqa following an invitation by Nature Trust.

They planted olive trees together to emphasise that the natural environment belonged to everyone, the society said.

Joe Saliba of the Nationalist Party thanked Nature Trust for the invitation and praised the work being done at Wied Ghollieqa.

Jason Micallef of the Malta Labour Party also praised the work done by Nature Trust and said his party would help it in its quest to preserve valleys like Wied Ghollieqa.

Alternattiva Demokratika deputy secretary general Jurgen Balzan said the environment belonged to everybody, and AD urged all political parties, government, local councils, civil society and the general public to work together in protecting and looking after the environment.

Maltacom sponsored trees for the tree planting session.
