Marine artist Edwin Galea has donated a painting of two American Protector Class boats to the Maritime Museum in Vittoriosa.

The boats were donated to Malta by the US government and form part of the Maritime Squadron 2nd Regiment of the Armed Forces of Malta.

The presentation was made to Heritage Malta chairman Mario Tabone in the presence of Heritage Malta chief executive officer Antoinette Caruana, the Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy William Grant and the commander of the Armed Forces of Malta Brigadier Carmel Vassallo, among others.

Patrol boat P51 had been presented by former US Ambassador Anthony Gioia to President Eddie Fenech Adami, then Prime Minister, on November 30, 2002.

Patrol boat P52 was handed over by Thomas Murphy, Chargé d'Affaires at the US Embassy, to Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi last July 7.

Mr Galea is the official artist for the US Navy and the US Coast Guard.
