Film star Paul Newman (left), who died on Saturday, walks in front of the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana, together with the producers, first and second from right of The Mackintosh Man directed by John Huston. Based on espionage, the film was shot on the island. It was screened in theatres worldwide in 1973. Behind Mr Newman stands Freddie Fenech, at the time a police constable with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Now retired, Mr Fenech is the founder of the Association for Abandoned Animals. He was responsible for the actor's security while on the island. He described Mr Newman as a soft-spoken gentleman.
