PBS to host European Broadcasting Union assembly in Malta in 2027

Decision announced at 96th EBU assembly held in Prague

Public Broadcasting Services (PBS) will host the European Broadcasting Union's 98th General Assembly in Malta in June 2027, bringing together senior executives from public service broadcasters across Europe.

The announcement was made during the EBU's 96th General Assembly, currently taking place in Prague.

The General Assembly is the EBU's highest governing body and brings together representatives from 115 public service radio and television organisations across 57 countries to discuss the priorities, challenges and opportunities facing public service media.

PBS chief executive Keith Chetcuti said the broadcaster looked forward to working with other members on the event.

"Together, we will focus on our core public service media remits and continue addressing the key challenges and opportunities facing our Union," he said.

Chetcuti described PBS as "a small but proud" EBU member committed to playing an active role within the organisation.

Hosting the assembly recognises PBS's contribution to the European public service broadcasting community and will place Malta at the centre of discussions on the future of public service media, the broadcaster said.
