Pedestrian, 28, hit by car in Ta' Xbiex

Man taken to Mater Dei Hospital with grievous injuries

A 28-year-old pedestrian was grievously injured when he was hit by a car on the Ta' Xbiex seafront on Monday morning.

The police said the man, who is from Għargħur, was hit by a Toyota IQ driven by a 52-year-old Italian woman who lives in Gżira.

The incident was reported to emergency services at around 7.45am. 

A medical team administered first aid onsite before rushing the victim to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance. Doctors there certified him as having been grievously injured. 

A police investigation is under way.
