A 53-year-old man from Mosta was seriously injured when he was hit by a car in his hometown yesterday evening, the police said.

The incident happened in Independence Avenue at about 8.15. The car involved was a Honda Civic driven by a 43-year-old man resident in Naxxar. 

The pedestrian's injuries are not life-threatening.
