Pedestrian seriously injured as parked car is pushed forward during crash

A motorist was also left with serious injuries in the crash in Guardamangia

Two people were hospitalised with serious injuries after a car crashed into a parked vehicle in Guardamangia on Tuesday morning.

The accident happened at 7am in St Luke's Square, opposite St Luke's Hospital when a Volkswagen Caddy driven by a 62-year-old man from Mellieħa crashed into the back of a parked Mercedes E320.

The Mercedes was pushed forward, hitting a 41-year-old woman from Valletta.

The driver and woman were treated at the scene before being taken to Mater Dei Hospital, where their injuries were certified as serious. 

Parademics and the Civil Protection Department (CPD) attended the accident.

Police investigations are ongoing.
