Some of the best pedigree cats on the island will be competing at the upcoming international show being held by the Malta Feline Fanciers on November 7 at the Coastline Hotel, Salina Bay.
The judges will be brought in from Belgium and France and on the day the purring felines will start being judged at 9.30 a.m.
The Malta Feline Fanciers was first established in August 2001 and was granted temporary affiliation with the well respected Federation Internationale Feline (FIFe) in January 2002.
Last year, on the recommendation of FIFe, a federation was formed and called Malta Feline Federation with the Malta Feline Fanciers becoming its member.
Earlier this year the Malta Feline Federation was officially accepted by FIFe, under the patronage of the cat club Mundikat in The Netherlands.
Any other cat club can join the federation subject to their agreement to abide by federation/FIFe rules.
The aims of the Malta Feline Fanciers are to promote the welfare of all cats and the breeding of pedigree cats to the standards accepted by FIFe.
It also works to organise cat shows; promote sportsmanship and friendship among cat lovers; work for the rights of animals and the welfare of cats.
The club encourages the registration of both pedigree and non-pedigree cats and have show classes for all types of domestic cats.
