A 75-year-old Sliema woman was robbed of her pension money yesterday by a man who forced his way into her home armed to his teeth.

The police said the robbery took place in Tower Road at about 2 p.m.

The woman went to answer a knock at her door to be confronted by a man carrying both a firearm and a penknife.

He asked her for money, entered the house and took about Lm250 in cash, the police said. The money was her pension for the month.

The woman had the presence of mind to activate her Telecare alarm, at which point the robber fled with the cash.

The police said she was unhurt.

A magisterial inquiry was ordered and district and CID police are investigating.
