The Pope has bestowed the honour with the title of Pro Ecclesine et Pontificie (PEP) to Mario Farrugia for his teaching activities within Church schools.

Mr Farrugia, a Lyceum Master, continued to teach after reaching pensionable age at the Seminary in Floriana, Sixth Form at Stella Maris College, Gzira, and at St Agatha College, Rabat.

He is also co-founder of the Circolo Dante Alighieri.
