A man was yesterday jailed for 18 months when he was found guilty of involvement in a theft from a perfumery during the operative time of a suspended jail term.

Natale Bonello, 30, of Gzira, had been charged with complicity in burgling three outlets when he had been given a one-year suspended jail term earlier this year.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera cleared Mr Bonello of his involvement in two of the thefts but found him guilty of one of them and, consequently, jailed him for six months.

The magistrate also ordered that the one-year suspended jail term be put into effect bringing the total term to 18 months.

Police Inspector Joseph Mercieca prosecuted.
