Lazio goalkeeper Angelo Peruzzi was named in the Italy squad yesterday for the World Cup qualifiers away to Scotland and Belarus.
Peruzzi's recall comes after first choice keeper Gianluigi Buffon was ruled out until November with a shoulder injury suffered in pre-season.
Italy coach Marcello Lippi has also named Udinese 'keeper Morgan De Sanctis but there was no place for Monaco no.1 Flavio Roma who has featured in recent squads for friendlies.
Roma forward Antonio Cassano, who is in a contract dispute with his club and was left on the bench for Sunday's 3-0 Serie A win at Reggina, was not included.
Lippi has given himself plenty of choice in attack with Alessandro Del Piero keeping his place despite the return to fitness of Francesco Totti and Milan pair Christian Vieri and Alberto Gilardino also included.
