IFS-Malta committee member Peter Calleya has been elected a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (FCIB) in recognition of his academic qualifications, professional achievements, and support to the institute and its role in being a leading provider of financial services education.
Anne Kiem from ifs-uk made the announcement during the IFS-Malta annual dinner recently. The Governor of the Central Bank of Malta, Michael Bonello, who is also a Fellow of the IFS, presented the Fellowship scroll to Mr Calleya.
Mr Calleya has been a member of the IFS for almost as long as the 20 years he has been a financial services practitioner. He is currently manager, Corporate Strategy and Research of HSBC Bank Malta. His previous roles have included marketing manager - Commercial Banking and manager Corporate Strategy and EU Affairs.
He is a Chartered Marketer and holds a Masters degree in Marketing and a BA (Hons) degree in Business Management. He is an elected IFS-Malta committee member, responsible for PR and marketing, is active in education matters, and a founding member of its research unit.
Mr Calleya has been chief examiner on one of the modules of the institute's Diploma in Banking and Financial Services for a number of years and has delivered lectures for University degree courses.
He has also given presentations at IFS-Malta organised events, and chaired and acted as a rapporteur for numerous conferences and seminars.
He has written and published numerous papers and articles in the areas of marketing, finance, banking, management and EU issues related to financial services.
