Maltapost's philatelic bureau will be issuing a 16-stamp sheetlet with images of insects common to the Maltese islands.

The images are hand-painted by nature artist Andrew Micallef. All the stamps have a face value of 16c.

The insects featured are the seven-spotted ladybird, the green lacewing, the honey bee, the scarlet darter, the emperor dragonfly, the glow-worm, the gourd ladybird and the common earwig, the praying mantis, the common potter wasp, the oak longhorn beetle, the two-spotted field cricket, the large carpenter bee, the cicada, the Mediterranean slant-faced grasshopper and the rhinoceros beetle.

The stamps will be available from all Maltapost branch post offices in Malta and Gozo and from the Maltapost mobile unit as from Wednesday.
