A pillion rider was critically injured and a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash at Council of Europe Road, Luqa, this morning.

The police said the motorcycle crashed into a centre strip at about 1.15 a.m.The driver, a 34-year-old man from Pembroke, suffered serious injuries while the pillion rider, a 20-year-old woman from Swieqi, suffered life-threatening injuries.

Magistrate C Stafrace Zammit is holding an inquiry.
