Pizza chef denies assaulting and threatening co-worker
The alleged incident happened while the accused was making pizza
A 34-year-old pizza chef has denied assaulting his co-worker and causing him grievous injuries.
Dario D’Aparo, a Sicilian man living in St Julian’s, appeared in court on Friday afternoon, accused of causing grievous injuries to another Italian national and threatening him.
Police inspector Warren Galea informed the court that the alleged victim had turned up at the Mtarfa police station on Wednesday to report an alleged incident that took place on Friday last week.
The man said he and D’Aparo had argued on the day of the alleged assault. They then returned to work and, while making pizza, D’Aparo allegedly threatened the victim and assaulted him.
The alleged victim went to the Mosta health centre, where his injuries were certified as grievous.
The pizza chef pleaded not guilty.
Bail was not requested, and the accused was remanded in custody.
A protection order was issued in favour of the alleged victim.
The court asked the prosecution to summon the alleged victim at the first sitting.
Magistrate Kevan Azzopardi presided.
