The Labour Party has called on the Nationalist Party’s administration to give replies and a clear picture of how the Good Causes Fund used to be administered by former Finance Minister Tonio Fenech.

The Auditor General has been asked to investigate the fund, which, before the election, was being used for political and partisan aims, the PL said.

It said that €3 million from the fund were committed before the election when the balance at the end of last April stood at under €200,000.

The PL said that before the election several donations were made to organisations in the district contested by Mr Fenech.

All this, the party said, should not hinder the donation of funds to organisations for whom such funds were of utmost importance.
