The Labour Party and the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses in a joint statement today said they agreed that a new system needed to be found for less disruption for hospital patients and nurses during elections.

Delegations from the two sides at a meeting today discussed the difficulties faced by patients and residents at Old People's homes when they need to vote.

Among the changes both sides agreed upon, was having a polling station at Mater Dei Hospital instead of taking the patients to the polling stations where they reside.

It was suggested that St Vincent de Paule Home could have more than one polling station, thus reducing disruption for the residents there.
