The Labour Party has 'removed from its statute' a clause fining party MEPs who fall out of line €15,000, Labour MEP Louis Grech said today.
The fine was increased from €5,000 to €15,000 at a general conference which had amended the party’s statute in August. The fine was removed in November.
The removal of the fine was announced when the PL was criticised about it by Nationalist MEP Simon Busuttil during a debate organised by the European Parliament and the European Commission, “Social Europe. Social Malta... Where do we go from here?”.
The debate, which also included the participation of AD chairman Arnold Cassola, discussed illegal migration and the working time directive, among other issues.
