PL women's executive secretary submits resignation following Gafa attacks
Resignation not accepted yet as Labour hopes Jennifer Tabone will stay on
The executive secretary of the Labour Party's women’s section has submitted her resignation, Times of Malta is informed, a week after OPM advisor Neville Gafà said Jennifer Tabone has a "poisonous tongue".
However, PL sources said the party administration has not yet accepted the resignation and is hoping to convince Tabone to stay on.
The resignation letter comes after Gafà, who works within the Office of the Prime Minister, said Tabone is "incompetent" in her role in Nisa Laburisti and "resembles a Repubblika activist".
Besides his government job, Gafà is also a customer care “volunteer” for the Labour Party.
Gafà's blog post came after the PL’s women’s section criticised Foreign Minister and PL deputy leader Ian Borg’s decision to nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize.
“Let me tell you something, Jennifer Tabone, I won’t be intimidated by you. Criticise as much as you want, just like I do, but start first by bringing the organisation entrusted to you back from the dead, instead of focusing your mind on insurance,” Gafà said two weeks ago.
Tabone was elected executive secretary of Nisa Laburisti in July 2020.
Questions have been sent to the Labour Party’s spokesperson and to Tabone.
