Air Malta is to carry out a simulation of the incident that took place earlier this year when one of its aircraft hit a pylon.

Public Investments Minister Austin Gatt said in Parliament yesterday the simulation was requested by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) as part of its inquiry. The simulation had not been held yet because special insurance cover was needed for the aircraft that would be used. That cover had now been provided.

The minister was replying to a parliamentary question by Leo Brincat (MLP).

He said that while a magisterial inquiry into the incident had been concluded and published, an internal Air Malta inquiry was complete but awaiting the DCA's own findings.
