Around 200 passengers were safely evacuated when a Singapore Airlines flight from Manchester slid off the runway in Munich just after landing today.

No one was injured.

Airport spokesman Peter Pruemm said it was unclear why the Boeing 777 slid off the runway into the grass shortly after touching down at midday.

Firefighters evacuated all passengers and the plane appears not to have suffered great damage.

One of the airport's two runways remains shut, which is likely to cause major delays and some cancellations at Germany's second-largest hub.
