The Nationalist Party's Mellieha committee has expressed its satisfaction that the Malta Environment and Planning Authority has approved the building of a home for the elderly in the locality.

The committee said the project would not only be beneficial for elderly people but also offer services to people with a disability.

The committee said it was only through the PN's goodwill that the project was starting, adding that this contrasted with the Labour Party's policy. It said that during the last MLP government then Health Minister Michael Farrugia had said the Labour government did not have any plans for a home for the elderly in the town.
