A Hamrun man yesterday admitted to 16 counts of theft since the beginning of October.

Domenic Abela, 44, pleaded guilty to stealing items, including handbags, briefcases and wallets, between October 6 and November 1.

After hearing Mr Abela's guilty plea, Magistrate Antonio Mizzi put off the case for judgement.

Mr Abela was granted bail against a personal guarantee of Lm5,000.

Police Inspector Carmelo Bartolo prosecuted.

Lawyer Roberto Montalto appeared for Mr Abela.
