A man was yesterday conditionally discharged for three years for using a forged telecard after a court noted he had cooperated with the police to such an extent that he had revealed names of other people involved in the same type of crime.
John Borg, 40, pleaded guilty to forging a telecard, defrauding Telemalta Corporation (now Maltacom) and making less than Lm500 in illicit gains.
Magistrate Abigail Lofaro noted that Borg had a clean criminal record, had cooperated with police and no longer owed Maltacom any money.
Police Inspector Carmelo Bartolo prosecuted.
