An Egyptian man was yesterday given a six-month jail term suspended for a year for making a false declaration when he filed a police report claiming he had lost his passport.

Magistrate Giovanni Grixti handed down judgment after El Sayed Mohammed Ahmed Ibrahim El Sayed, 29, filed a guilty plea to filing the report when he knew it to be false on November 28.

Police Inspector Geoffrey Azzopardi prosecuted.
