Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi has arrived at the Palace where he is expected to ask President Eddie Fenech Adami to dissolve Parliament.

He presided over the last Cabinet meeting of this legislature earlier this morning and is also expected to make a courtesy call on the Speaker, Anton Tabone. Dr Gonzi did not comment on arrival at the Palace other than to say that he was calling on the President, something he enjoyed doing.

The holding of the general election on March 8 is expected to be formally announced at 11 a.m. when Dr Gonzi addresses a press conference in Castille.
