Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi has laid the foundation stone of a new boys’ school being built at Victoria.

He visited the building in Victoria, which forms part of a new college, after touring works on a new college in Cospicua earlier in the day.

Dr Gonzi said education was central to his vision for Malta by 2015. The government, he said, had laid the building blocks of a quality education system and would continue to build on them.

Dr Gonzi said Malta now had the highest number of students in post-secondary education and progress could be seen across the education system. Still, the curriculum was being revised and greater focus was being placed on e-learning.

At the same time the government was creating the conditions to ensure that students found plenty of job opportunities once they left school.
