Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi said yesterday his government has big ambitions when it comes to healthcare.

Speaking to the Medical Association of Malta, Dr Gonzi said the next legislature will focus on primary healthcare and the aim is for everyone to be in possession of an electronic identity card that includes medical information.

He mentioned a number of milestones in healthcare achieved over the past few months, including the migration to the new hospital and the agreement signed with the doctors' assocaition.

MAM president Martin Balzan stressed the need to work together to overcome challenges, especially when it comes to human resources.
