The Prime Minister’s declaration that he did not see the €200 million contract given to the BWSC for the extension to the Delimara power station was very irresponsible, Labour leader Joseph Muscat said.
Speaking in Fgura, Dr Muscat said the BWSC contract was signed when allegations were already being made. So Dr Gonzi had two clear choices. He could either stop the contract until the investigations were carried out or at least see exactly what it contained.
The Labour leader insisted that the government had a duty to publish the contract for this to be scrutinised. Referring to the Opposition’s motion on the contact to be debated in Parliament today week, Dr Muscat said that the PL would be voting for families, the environment and a clean technology. It was calling on everyone to shoulder their responsibility.
Government MPs, he said, should use their vote in Parliament to show whether if they were for or against the people. Following the vote, he said, the PL would take all the necessary action to ensure that justice is made.
He encouraged the people to join the party in its May 1 celebrations on Saturday.
