Maria Camilleri, special envoy of the prime minister to Arab countries, has refused a €34,000 salary but is instead being given €100 per month to cover her expenses, according to information given in Parliament this evening.

She is also entitled to a Class A subsistence allowance and an allowance for travel in connection with her work, while hospitality costs are refunded.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said that Joseph Zammit Tabona (former High Commissioner to London) is his special envoy for investment promotion.

Former Foreign Minister Alex Sceberras Trigona is also his special envoy.

They each have remuneration of €34,684, use of mobile phone and home internet, subsistence and travel allowance and refund of hospitality costs.

Ms Camilleri, a former Labour MP, is head teacher of a Muslim school. She unsuccessfully contested the last European Parliament elections.
