PN candidate Charles Azzopardi recovering in hospital following 'collapse'
Former MP says he needs to 'give absolute priority' to his health
PN candidate Charles Azzopardi is recovering in hospital after ending up in intensive care on Sunday night following what he described as a “collapse”.
Posting on social media on Tuesday from his hospital bed, Azzopardi said he is now out of ITU and is “slowly recovering”.
“For now, on doctors’ orders, I need to give absolute priority to my health,” Azzopardi said.
He explained that during the night between Sunday and Monday he had “collapsed” and ended in ITU.
“Many contacted me but I could not reply,” he said, as he thanked everyone for the messages he had received.
The former PN MP failed to be elected on both Districts 7 and 12. On the seventh district he garnered 1,000 votes, missing out to Adrian Delia and Rebekah Borg. On the 12th district he got a total of 154 first-count votes.
Azzopardi served as a Labour mayor for Rabat before switching allegiance to the Nationalist Party.
