(Adds Mqabba PN denial)

The Nationalist Party this afternoon condemned the incident at Mqabba PN club where a man had opened fire and injured several people over what it said was a difference of political opinion.

The party expressed solidarity with the injured and thanked the police who, it said, had prevented a more serious incident. It condemned what it said was 'a personal action' and thanked the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition for the solidarity expressed at the scene of the incident.

Meanwhile, the PN Mqabba section committee this evening denied claims in a section of the Labour media that the aggressor had been eating and drinking at the PN club before the incident, saying he had been eating and drinking elsewhere.
