PN leadership election on September 6, Borg and Delia cleared to run
Both candidates have passed the party's due diligence checks
The Nationalist Party leadership election will take place on September 6, the party announced as both candidates Alex Borg and Adrian Delia passed due diligence checks.
Both candidates had “satisfied the verification criteria” ahead of the leadership election next month, the PN said. The party's Electoral Commission received an audit report from the PN Candidates Commission.
Borg and Delia can now formally submit their nominations for the leadership between August 14 and 19.
“Once nominations close and the Electoral Commission would have received the two nominations from the prospective candidates, the Commission will organise the election for the Leader of the PN”, it said.
Early voting sessions will open to party members on Wednesday, 27 August and Saturday, August 30.
An internal poll leaked to Times of Malta suggests the public prefers Borg over Delia, who enjoys a slight edge among Nationalist voters. Borg emerged as the clear favourite among Labour voters.
