Prime Minister Joseph Muscat needs to apologise to former minister Francis Zammit Dimech after a court case against him in connection with the death of a worker at the Seabank Hotel was thrown out before it even started, the Nationalist Party said this evening.

Dr Zammit Dimech was among the hotel's directors who were accused of negligence that led to the death of a Latvian man, Maksims Artamonovs, 27. But a magistrate ruled today that they had no case to answer for.

The PN said the prime minister should now apologise to Dr Zammit Dimech for the attacks he had made against him over the past months. It said Dr Muscat and the Labour media had been engaged in a character assassination campaign against the former minister.

Just three weeks ago Dr Muscat mentioned the case in parliament when he tried to stop Dr Zammit Dimech from speaking about health and safety in Paceville, the PN recalled.

All this reflected the way Dr Muscat had sunk to new levels, the party said.
