The Nationalist Party has condemned “disparaging” remarks made by Labour Party officials, saying they went against the spirit of an electoral campaign which should be based on ideas and proposals.
It said that in the space of 24 hours, Wenzu Mintoff described the Nationalists as hamalli and boloh, Joe Mifsud proposed that the PN logo should read strieħ u serraħ and Toni Abela urged the Nationalists to say the rosary.
Charles Mangion said the Nationalists had a different DNA.
Dr Mintoff in a reaction strongly denied ever having called the Nationalists hamalli and bolo saying his comment was only related to a particular incident in Qormi on Saturday.
