PN whip Robert Cutajar will not contest next election 

The former Mellieħa mayor was first elected to parliament in 2013

PN whip Robert Cutajar said on Sunday he will not contest the next general election. 

Cutajar made the announcement during a PN activity in his Mellieħa hometown.

The PN MP said he is proud to have been part of the party and pledged to remain active within it.

Cutajar said he will continue his parliamentary work until the general election is called.

The MP expressed "absolute faith" in PN leader Alex Borg and the entire parliamentary group.

He paid tribute to former prime minister Lawrence Gonzi, describing him as his mentor.

The 54-year-old was first elected to parliament in 2013. Prior to that, he served as Mellieħa mayor.
