Police arrest 28 in raids on homeless across four towns

Officers conduct early morning raids in Marsa, St Julian's, Sliema and Gżira

Police arrested 28 people in public spots in four different towns, as a crackdown against irregular migration and homelessness continued.

In a statement, the police said that officers had carried out raids in Marsa, St Julian’s, Gżira and Sliema early on Wednesday morning. They were assisted by members of the Agency for Detention Services.

Those raids led to the arrest of 28 different people. Of those, 13 were found to be living in Malta illegally while the other 15 are suspected of homelessness and begging.
