Two men in their twenties were yesterday arrested by drug squad police after they found 12 cannabis plants in the back garden of a Zejtun house still under construction, police said yesterday.
The police said the arrests were made at 5.30 a.m. after several days of surveillance.
Police sources said a 21-year-old man went to water the plants early in the morning and was arrested.
Shortly afterwards, his friend, a 25-year-old from Birzebbuga, went to the site and was arrested as well.
The sources said some of the plants were over a metre tall while some had been planted about a month ago.
Searches were made in the houses where the two men lived and some cannabis grass was found in a house where the Zejtun man lived.
Investigations are being led by Inspector Neil Harrison.
