Police inspector Elton Taliana has filed a judicial protest against Alexander Farrugia, editor of it-Torca saying Mr Farrugia made false allegations which were maliciously intended to destroy his reputation.

Earlier this year, Inspector Taliana arraigned a man who admitted committing a hold-up at a Birkirkara shop. A few days earlier the police had arraigned another man, Darryl Luke Borg, who pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody.
