Three Romanians, including a woman, are being held by the police in connection with investigations into a fraud case through the use of false credit cards.
The police said the fraud involved thousands of euros.
The police economic crimes unit started investigating after banks reported that a number of transactions had been carried out through the cards in order to pay for goods bought from various shops and to draw money from ATMs.
Investigations led the police to a residence in Msida where they allegedly found 60 credit cards, a false passport, computers and technical tools used to produce the suspect credit cards. All the items were seized. The two male suspects are aged 27 and 20 while the woman is 25.
Investigations into the case continue. The police also said they expected to charge a 26-year-old Maltese man with four hold-ups. The hold-ups occurred at various outlets in February and at the beginning of this month.
