Vice squad police are investigating a report that a woman was beaten up and raped in Floriana at about 6 a.m. yesterday.

The police said the woman, from Floriana, suffered a fractured leg and was allegedly beaten on various parts of her body.

The police said investigations were in their early stages and they did not want to divulge further details for now so as not to compromise the investigations.

Police from the Hamrun district are assisting the vice squad.
