Police seize 76 kilos of Cocaine in Gozo, arrest man for trafficking
Drugs valued at €9 million

Police seized 76 kilograms of cocaine and arrested a man in Gozo. The police said they intercepted the drugs, valued at €9 million, after observing and investigating suspicious movements between Malta and Gozo.
The 45-year-old Nenad Kovacic appeared before the court on Gozo on Thursday afternoon, was accused of conspiracy and driving without a licence and insurance cover.
He pleaded not guilty
The police’s investigation led officers to stop and search a Toyota Rav4 car at the Mġarr port in Gozo, where they found 18 kilograms of a substance they believed to be cocaine.
After arresting the 45-year-old Croatian man, investigators searched his residence in Xagħra, Gozo and found 58 more kilos as well as several vehicle registration plates.
Pictures provided by the police show packets of cocaine to have Ferrari stickers on them; other packets had different labels.
The man appeared in front of the Gozo court on Thursday afternoon in front of Magistrate Simone Grech.
Bail was not requested at this stage, and the man was remanded in custody.
