The police and Malta Environment and Planning Authority inspectors yesterday seized a number of protected species from a shop in Hamrun.

The police said the creatures included snakes, turtles and small crocodiles, all protected under CITES. A small number of illegal cages used in trapping were also seized.

A man, 30, is helping police in their investigations.
