Police seized about half a kilogramme of heroin and 13 grammes of cocaine from a 21-year-old man's home in a Sta Venera garage, an inspector told a court.

The police found Alan Vella inside the garage and he explained that he lived there. They also found two bags of heroin and one of cocaine after searching the garage on a tip-off on March 25, Inspector Nezren Grixti told Magistrate Miriam Hayman.

He testified in the compilation of evidence against Vella who is pleading not guilty to the possession of heroin and cocaine in circumstances denoting they were not for his personal use.

The inspector explained how a bag of heroin was found near Vella's bed and another in a box of sweets.

In all, police seized about 500 grammes of heroin, 13 grammes of cocaine and Lm1,194 cash.

At the end of yesterday's sitting Magistrate Hayman ruled there were enough reasons for Vella's indictment.

The case continues.

Police Inspector Grixti is prosecuting.
