A police sergeant was injured yesterday while arresting two Libyan men and a Moroccan man who were found to have overstayed their visit, police said.

The three men were working on a hotel site in Paceville and one of them resisted police and tried to escape.

The policeman, a member of the mobile squad, was injured when the netting of a concrete block punctured his thigh. He also suffered other light injuries.

The three men are expected to be arraigned today.
