A group of students from the Lorenzo Gafa' Boys' Secondary School in Vittoriosa will hold a 51-hour pool marathon at the school between next Friday and Sunday in aid of victims of the tsunami in Sri Lanka last December.

Fourteen students will take part in the marathon, aiming to collect Lm1,000 to buy a fishing boat for the people of the fishing village of Matara.

SOS Malta has set up an exhibition of drawings and poems at the school done by children from Matara.

The organisation, which had spearheaded Maltese aid in Asia after the tsunami, will also make a power point presentation with several photos of the work carried out in the village.

People can offer their donations at the school during the pool marathon or to helpers who will be in various localities.
