Pope John Paul II will be addressing, via satellite, participants of the International Priests' Congress taking place in Malta from October 18-22.

The link-up will be made during the Holy Father's Wednesday general audience on October 20.

During the congress, the priests from about 90 countries will discuss their functions, following in the steps of St Paul, in an effort to help the faithful to a holier life in the new millennium. Among those participating will be 15 cardinals. About 300 Maltese priests will also be taking part.

The congress kicks off in the evening of October 18 with a celebration at St John's co-Cathedral, presided over by Cardinal Dario Castrillon Hoyos, Prefect of the Congregation of the Clergy.
