The General Workers' Union has threatened industrial action at the ports unless an amendment to a legal notice on port work relating to public holidays is not withdrawn.

The union said the amendment would deprive licensed port workers from their entitlement to five days off each year.

It said it would insist that the licensed port workers should not accept to work on these days.
