The Chamber of Commerce is hosting an exhibition by artists Marie Anne Zammit and Elizabeth Borg.

The works by Ms Zammit include portraits and figures in oils, sepia and chalks, while those of Ms Borg include paintings on glass.

Ms Borg`s nine-piece exhibition ranges from depictions of New York scapes to the philosophical meaning of life.

Inspired by the jewels of Faberge to the Tsars and art objects created for 19th century Russian courts, Ms Borg took one step further and rendered her own masterpiece in pearls and rhinestones, a medium that took three months to complete.

The result produced a glowing and shimmering effect of a beautifully designed work of art.

Born in Malta, raised in the UK, and having lived in the US, Ms Borg believes that messages, beauty and mysticism are the three main important issues in her work.

Save for one portrait, Ms Zammit`s subjects for most of the paintings consist of the female figure.

For Ms Zammit, the female aspect is an unconscious voyage within herself and her ancestors, where certain emotions and expressions can be captured to portray her inner life.

In her works, Ms Zammit aims to expose woman in all her moods, pain, solitude and spirituality. The characters in the paintings are women from all walks of life, from dancers to ethnic women.

Both artists have had their works exhibited in various locations and venues in the past.

The exhibition, `Moods`, will run from Friday until June 6.
